Animal Antics
Script, Score and CD with rehearsal and performance tracks

Commissioned by Dudley Performing Arts 2003
Animal Antics celebrates the importance of 'babies' for the continuation of a species. It is the story of Lucy who finds herself alone in the zoo at the end of the day - very soon she soon discovers why many of the animals are celebrating! The music often reflects the way in which the animals move or seem to behave.
"New year, new music, and this has to be the one! Animal Antics is fresh, witty, vibrant, catchy, child friendly and just the most fun for children to sing and perform!" Zone Magazine, Spring 2005

Penguins |
If you have ever thought that penguins look like mini Charlie Chaplin's doing the Charleston then this is the song for you! | view
|
Prom Night |
With their pink feathers, cool attitude and a penchant for 'chatting in groups' the flamingos reminded me of the 'pink ladies' in 'Grease' preparing for their prom night! | view

Mbube |
Mbube, pronounced mm-boo–beh, is the Zulu word for calling a lion – the ostinato effect of chanting the word creates the sound of the lion’s heartbeat. The performance track has a great djembe part which is useful if none of your year 4s happen to play! | view

Spider Monkey Mayhem |
This has a South American carnival feel and has some
wonderful rhythms – the rhythms bring the words alive and there's an
increasing number of claps in each chorus! |

Love Song |
The tender love song is the tear jerker of the set - it
naturally creates beautifully sustained singing from the children. |

A Twist in the Tale |
This is a great finale piece, full of energy and rhythm - you might even get the audience doing the twist in the last verse! | view |
