David Lawrence Conductor
David
Lawrence is one of the UK's
most versatile young conductors, particularly known for his work with
choirs and choruses. He works regularly with the Netherlands Radio
Choir and the City of Birmingham Symphony Chorus, and holds the Guinness World
Record for conducting the largest choir in the UK (6,846 singers.)
David's work has taken him to Australia,
India, Canada,
South America as well as Europe
and has particular experience in conducting contemporary music. His
television work has included ‘The People’s Chorus’ and ‘Songs of Praise’ and he
is a popular adjudicator for the BBC Choir of the Year competition.
This summer David directs massed choirs of young
people with the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera, Sinfonia Viva, the
English Symphony Orchestra, as well as for the Ulverston Music Festival
and the Borough of Newham at the Royal Festival Hall before making a
return workshop and guest conducting visit to Queensland,
Australia. This Autumn he makes his US debut, and in
2009 will be the conductor of the National Youth Choir of Wales.
